What
is Nottinghamshire Wheels to Work?
Nottinghamshire
Wheels to Work was launched in March 2002, and offers the
loan of a moped to help people get over the initial problem of getting to
work, training or education.
Applicants
borrow a moped for a maximum of twelve months. This
allows plenty of time to save up towards a more permanent
solution to transport problems.
How
do I find out if I could qualify?
This website
has information about the criteria needed to join the
Nottinghamshire Wheels to Work project, and a question and
answer section for each of the five requirements. Click here
for more information.
How
much does it cost to take part in this project?
The costs to
the applicant are fuel, oil, bulbs and £10 per week towards
maintenance (£8 for those attending training or education
and not working at all.)
Clients also pay a bond (usually £50)
which is refunded when the bike is returned and in good
condition.
In the event
of the moped being damaged, the user will be
responsible for the cost.
If there is a
claim on the insurance because of theft or damage to a
moped, the user will be responsible for the £250 excess.
What
is provided by the Nottinghamshire Wheels to Work project?
Successful
applicants will loan a moped for a maximum of twelve months, complete with a heavy-duty lock. All other costs,
such as insurance, servicing, road tax, breakdown, safety
equipment and the Compulsory Basic Training (CBT course) are
covered by the project.
